Friday, August 19th

Today was our last day of our internship, and it was definitely a bittersweet moment. I am really going to miss working with Savanna and Morgan everyday. We had so much fun together and learned so much this summer. As our last surprise to our boss, we made shirts that said "Interns for summer" on the front and "Phanomers for life" on the back. It was really more of a gesture to show our appreciation to our boss for teaching us so much this summer. As we were leaving Loree started crying and was talking about how appreciative she was and how different this internship has been from past experiences with the baby coming. Then she gave us all a present on the way out and gave us all hugs.

As far as design work, today we worked on finishing up as much of the construction documents as we could, so Loree didn't have to stay up so late and work so much this weekend to get ready for the meeting on Tuesday. In addition to that, we went through all of the finishes with Loree and narrowed it down to a few good options to show the client. After that, we sent a bunch of samples back to the companies for recycling. We also started printing lighting, bathroom fixtures, and other things that are needed for the meeting on Tuesday.

Thursday, August 18th:

Today was our second to last day of our internship. We worked a lot on redesigning a couple things, which meant more new elevation drawings. While it is frustrating to have to change a lot of time consuming work you already have done, in the end it is rewarding, because we now have a better design that will be cheaper to build out. In addition to the construction drawings, we also have been working on narrowing down some of the finishes. With that being said, it is hard to put together full concepts when some of our reps haven't gotten back to us on pricing yet so we don't know if we can use certain products, hopefully we will find out soon. Our second surprise for Loree is happening tomorrow, and we are all very excited.

Wednesday, August 17th:

Today we cleaned just a little more, the office is finally starting to look like our normal workplace again. After the last little bit of cleaning we went back to work on the construction documents and the elevations. Things are really starting to look good and get finished. We had some minor setbacks today, because we sort of changed our concept a little to something that would be cheaper to build out, so we have to now go back and change some of the elevations. We also worked more on finding pricing, however some of the reps are still not getting back to us and we are starting to be very worried that we won't have those prices by the time we leave. Also, my mom came for lunch today and saw where I work.

Tuesday, August 16th:

Today we took Loree a cake, since it was her birthday. This is one of the surprises we worked on at our sleepover last night. Loree was so happy and thrilled that we were so thoughtful and was smiling from ear to ear when we gave it to her. It was a white cake with sprinkles on it. After the mini birthday party, we cleaned up the office a little bit more, but then went back to working on construction drawings. Most of the day was spent on these elevations, pricing and ordering samples, as well as other aspects of the construction drawings.

Monday, August 15th:

Door elevations

Today was the first day of our last week at PHANOMEN. Even though it is our last week, we are going to be extremely busy, because we have to get everything that we are working on done so our boss doesn't have to finish what we started. There are still several more elevations that we need to work on, including two copy and work stations, the kitchen, and two shelving units in the laundry and storage areas of the family and youth counseling center. We worked for quite a while on developing these elevations. In addition to the elevations,  we found more finishes. With all of the samples coming in the office was beginning to be a mess, so we spent a little time today working on cleaning and tidying up so we would have more space to work. Tonight Morgan, Savanna, and I are all having a movie night and making a couple surprises for our boss this week.

Friday, August 12th:

Samples waiting on prices
Today I continued searching for and ordering samples of products we are going to use in the counseling center. Morgan and I have ordered so many wall coverings and carpets it is not even funny. We keep getting more and more samples in and they are slowly starting to take over the office. In addition to ordering samples, we have to find pricing on everything we order, which at times can be frustrating. Some of our reps have had the list of prices we need for several days and still have not sent the pricing back. I really hope we get them all soon, because our last day is one week from today so we have to show our boss everything and make decisions before then.

Thursday, August 11th:

Beginning of laminate choices
All day today I worked on gathering various finishes for the family and youth counseling center. Right now this is pretty much the only project we are working on since the deadline is coming up. Also, most of our other projects are at a stand still whether it be from waiting on client approval of the design or waiting on bids to come back, to various other reasons. I looked through every wall covering book we have in our library to find one that was a subtle pattern that was interesting at the same time. I also had to find another that was a larger much bolder pattern. I had to look in the red, silver, grey, black, and white colorways of all of the patterns.
